Sterilization System

The Sterrad 100S Sterilization System is a low-temperature hydrogen peroxide gas plasma sterilizer for processing medical devices and surgical instruments. The system has a significantly faster, 55-minute processing time and enhanced cycle performance, which offers hospitals improved instrument utilization and reduced costs. Additionally, the system results in an estimated 57 percent increase in instrument availability compared with ethylene oxide (EtO) sterilization systems and allows healthcare facilities to increase instrument throughput, improve efficiency and reduce costs.

The system is based on a process involving the generation of low-temperature gas plasma from hydrogen peroxide. The system does not leave toxic residues on surgical instruments and equipment, eliminating the need for a lengthy aeration phase, and sterile instruments may be used immediately following the 55-minute sterilization cycle. Because the process provides terminally sterilized, "shelf-ready" instruments that are dry and wrapped, instruments can be stored for use when needed.
